1. When are the key election dates for 2024?
- Presidential Primary: February 27, 2024
- State Primary: August 6, 2024
- General Election: November 5, 2024
- You can register to vote online, by mail, or in person at your local clerk's office.
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be at least 18 years old by Election Day
- Be a resident of Michigan and the city or township where you are registering
- Not currently serving a sentence in jail or prison
- You can check your voter registration status online at the Michigan Voter Information Center.
- In-Person Voting: Vote at your designated polling place on Election Day.
- Early Voting: Available for at least nine consecutive days before Election Day.
- Absentee Voting: Request an absentee ballot and vote by mail or drop it off at your local clerk’s office.
- You can find your polling location by visiting the Michigan Voter Information Center.
- The ballot will include candidates for federal, state, and local offices, as well as any ballot proposals.
- In Michigan, you need to bring a valid photo ID to vote. If you do not have a photo ID, you can still vote by signing an affidavit at the polling place.
- You can request an absentee ballot. Absentee ballots are available to all voters in Michigan. Apply online, by mail, or in person at your local clerk’s office.
